Demag Cranes & Components GmbH is a major supplier of crane and lifting equipment for industrial enterprises, power plants, military and civilian facilities.
Before World War II, the Soviet Union ordered 3 cranes from the German company Demag, which were to be delivered in 1940-41. It is known that these cranes were planned to be used for the construction of battleships of the Sovetsky Soyuz type, and one of the cranes was delivered to Leningrad in 1940 in the form of a pontoon and a rotating part. The pontoons were built by Deutsche Werft in Hamburg-Finkenwärder.
The company's roots go back to 1827. Over its long history, it has had different names: Dinglewerke, Demag AG, Mannesmann Dematic AG., Demag Mobile Cranes GmbH. Currently, after the merger with the American company Terex in 2002, it is called Terex-Demag GmbH & Co. KG. The company released its first V2500 crane with a lifting capacity of 2.5 tons with a telescopic boom in 1950, and the legendary 12-ton "Krake" of 1956 is generally considered the first "All Terrain" crane in Europe!
